Making Brush Cleaning A Tad Bit Easier ft. The Brush Bar

Makeup is such a wonderful thing. The way it enhances your beauty and the ability you have to create & express yourself through the art is pretty darn amazing. The many products that are available to do just that is endless. However it's all fun and games until you're all done and realize the tools you used to create your work of art are all filthy. Of course I'm talking about cleaning your makeup brushes - a task that nobody seems to be fond of.

Admittedly, I am completely horrible at cleansing my brushes regularly. If it were perfectly normal, I would put off cleaning them for as long as I can. But unfortunately for me, it is a deed that must be done. Just as my brushes were reaching their time to be cleaned, The Brush Bar got in contact with me and asked me if I wanted to try their products. I automatically agreed in hopes that they would even slightly take some of the irritation out of the task.

The first product I was sent was The Brush Board*. Ever since I heard Sigma came out with something similar, I've always wanted to try  one. So you couldn't believe the excitement I had when it was time to give this bad boy a try. The board is double-sided with 6 different textures; each for giving your brush a deep clean. It's made very well - a sturdy board (made of plastic, I assume) that's lightweight. No matter how much or hard I scrub my brushes against it, I don't see it breaking or losing any of it's bristles. It also doesn't get stained and cleaning it off is easy as just rinsing it off with water.

The way I like to use it (and the way that it's recommended to use) is by adding a bit of my brush cleanser onto the board, slightly dipping my brush in some water, then scrubbing it against the board. I like to alternate between different sections of the board as each one gives it a different clean. I find this to make cleaning my brushes much more faster and even more effective. As you can see from the photos above, the brush board helped to turn my blush brush back to the white tipped beauty that it once was!

The hardest thing for me when it comes to cleaning my brushes is drying them. Before getting the The Brush Bar*, the way I would dry my brushes was by ringing it out to the best of my ability and then laying them onto a towel until the dry fully. Not the best way, especially because the water may get trapped and ruin the glue that is keeping the bristles to the brush handle. Definitely not something you want to do as quality brushes can cost a pretty penny.

To be honest, before holding it physically in my hands, I was skeptical of how it would work. I wasn't quite sure how this little board could hold my brushes without tipping over from the opposite weight. However, now that I have it, I see that it has a pretty decent weight. So even if I were to put all my heavier brushes on there, I wouldn't need to worry about it falling over.

The Brush Bar come in a sleek, matte black packaging. There are 10 prongs in total - 2 small, 6 medium, 2 large. I love how the creators of this beauty thought that through. Each of my brushes fit snugly in the right prong and showed no sign of slipping. The prongs are able to flip back inside in it's casing to be ready for storage.

All in all, I'm so happy with both products. Each were simple, yet effective and made the most dreadful chore a bit more bearable. I also love the fact that when I use these, I know I'm taking much better care of my brushes.

Products marked with a (*) were sent to me for consideration. All opinions are my own.
