Makeup Look | Styling Leong Cosmetics Faux Mink Lashes

If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I love false lashes. They just make the makeup look a whole lot better. And I think a lot of my adoration for them comes from the fact that I have naturally short, barely-noticeable eyelashes, so the feeling of having long and fluttery ones are a dream even if it's only for a few hours. When Leong Cosmetics slid into my DM's and asked me if I wanted to try their lashes, I said yes instantly.

I screamed when I opened up the little parcel and found this guy - their SS17 Faux Mink Collection*.  Seriously, can we take a minute to appreciate how gorgeous this box is?! Just stunning. It includes No. 11 to No. 16 (top to bottom). These went beyond my expectations. They're so fluffy and soft. These lashes have a thicker band than I'm used to, but I actually prefer that. Admittedly, when I first took a look at these, I thought no way are they going to look good on me because they looked way too big. I thought the only one I'd actually like was No. 14, but that wasn't the case as I grew lady balls and decided to style the No. 12s.

Here's the look I created using the No. 12s. As you could see, they're not at all overpowering on the eyes and I'm now a huge fan of them. I'm actually considering trying out the No. 11s some day, which I think are the most fullest lashes out of the bunch. If you're curious about my makeup look, here are the deets:

I found a sample of the Becca Backlight Filter Primer laying around and decided to give it a go. I was really impressed at the glow it gave my skin especially when I paired it with it's other half, the Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation; together, my skin was looking super radiant and healthy looking. As usual, I concealed with the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer but something different, I set that with Johnson's Baby Powder. A friend tipped me off saying that it worked amazing for her. Unfortunately, I did not get the same results as it looked horrible on my under eyes. I used the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette to give that a quick fix. For the first time since purchasing the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer, I used a different bronzer - Benefit Hoola. I was quickly reminded how much I loved it. I used the shade Sombre from the Kat Von D Shade + Light Face Contour Palette to contour, duh! Then finished off the face with a Tanya Burr highlighter to add even more sheen to the face. The highlighter is called Champagne Shimmer and it came in what I believe was a little holiday collection box. I actually won this and two lippies in a giveaway that Beauty With Andrea held (thank you!!). It's the first Tanya Burr products I've tried and I'm liking the stuff I've used so far!

Now onto the eyes.. I attempted to recreate a sunset-ish look with yellow on the top and then a gradual fade to purple. I pulled out a ton of palettes/eyeshadows for this one. For the yellow, I used the NYX SFX Creme Colour* in Yellow. Under that I took one of the orange shades in the Morphe 35OM Palette, then went in with Love Letter from the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette under that, then finally Makeup Geek's Cherry Cola eyeshadow on the lid. I used Love Letter again on the lower lash line and smoked it out a little with the yellow. I felt like that made my eyes look smaller, so lining my waterline with a nude liner and a little bit of Makeup Geek's Shimma Shimma on the inner corners fixed that right up. Of course you know already know that I used the Leong Cosmetics faux lashes* in No.12, but I also threw on Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara on my bottom lashes. To finish off the look, I lined my lips with the Jordana Lip Liner in Rock N' Rose and put on MAC Velvet Teddy aka the perfect nude.
