An Ode To The Beautyblender

If someone were to ask me if there was a single (yes, just one) beauty product I could not live without, I would say the beautyblender without hesitation. I really can't remember the last time I was without one and frankly..I don't want to remember.

When I first started off with makeup, I would use one of those flat foundation brushes to apply my base. Honestly, I hated it. It would take ages to get an even layer and after tons of blending, I would still notice streaks. It was a nightmare. So after putting up with that for a while, I decided to get myself a stippling brush from Sephora. I'm pretty sure I was in the ninth grade when I spent around $50 on that brush. Looking back, at the time, I was happy with it. Applying foundation on my face took less time and it blended beautiful. Until I noticed shedding..and that's when my foundation started to look like complete crap again. It was back to looking streaky because of the lack of bristles. So I had to go on a search for the best tool for the third time. I remember a few years ago, Jaclyn Hill (one of my favourite youtubers!) had a collaboration with Sigma and I just had to have it. It was a set with a couple of her favourite brushes from them for less than $100. Yes, give it to me! So for a while, I was using the Sigma F80 and I thought it was the best thing ever and that's when the heaven sent beautyblender makes it's entrance.

Since I brought the infamous beauty sponge into my routine, my makeup game has changed tremendously - mostly with foundation. No brush or other beauty sponge gives me the finish that the original beautyblender gives me. I know a ton of people swear that the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge is just like it, but I notice a huge difference between the two. The two main differences being the structure and the bounciness of them. The RT is firmer compared to the beautyblender, which just bounces off your face effortlessly. Every time I use the beautyblender (pretty much every time I do my makeup) my foundation looks amazing and I could achieve that in less than 5 minutes. What I also love about the beautyblender is that it's not only for foundation. I use it with any cream product and I also use it to set my under eyes with powder too. It's just a great overall makeup tool, which is why I will never think twice to repurchase it. Until a company comes out with a very, very, verrrrrry close dupe that is much cheaper, I don't see myself ditching the beautyblender.

Are you a fan of the beautyblender? Have you found a good dupe for it?
