Pinterest Beauty Hacks | Tried & Tested

Every now and then I like to spend a couple few hours on Pinterest. You can find so many things on there. Some of my favourites have to be the endless amount of jaw-dropping room inspos and the bunches of DIYs that I always pin to do later on (but never actually get around to doing). And then you have numerous pins of beauty hacks. Every time I come across them, I'm automatically intrigued and I wonder if they actually work. I'm finally putting an end to my curiousity (and maybe some of yours) and testing them out for myself.

HACK #1: Using An Eyelash Curler To Line Your Eyes
The idea is to add eyeliner to your lash curler where it would touch your lids. It's supposed to be a time saver as you're curling your lashes and lining your eyes at the same time.

Does it work? I tried this hack using my Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil on the area of the curler that would touch my lash line. To get straight to the point, this one didn't work for me. I don't know if it's because of my eye shape or if it just doesn't work at all. The only part that was lined was the middle of on my lids and even then it was barely visible as it was so light. I was actually really surprised at this considering how creamy and pigmented the Urban Decay liner is; I was at least expecting there to be more liner to transfer on my lids. I have to say: No, this doesn't work.

HACK #2: Rub Vicks On Heels & Cover With Socks Overnight
It's said that if you rub Vicks on your cracked heels, put on socks and leave them on overnight, by morning your heels should be soft as a baby's bottom.

Does it work? This has to be one of the first beauty hacks I saw on Pinterest and I made it a goal to give it a go. Before sleeping, I slathered a boat load of Vicks on my feet and covered them with some comfy socks. Come morning, I could see and feel that my feet were softer compared to how they were the day before, however I wouldn't say it was at it's softest. Mind you, my feet weren't at it's worst, so if you're someone who has severely cracked feet, this may not work for you. Bottom line: Yes, this works, but to an extent.

HACK #3: Put Dryer Sheet on Hairbrush to Tame/Un-Frizz Hair
To take away the frizz from your hair, they say to pop on a dryer sheet onto your hairbrush and brush your hair as you usually would.

Does it work? I don't know if it was the dryer sheet I used, but it was so hard to put it on there. Once it was (kinda) on, it didn't look as neat as it did on Pinterest - but that's beside the point. When I finally did get it on and brushed it through my hair, I found that it did tame any fly aways I had and not only that, but it also had my hair smelling like fresh laundry, mmmm...

HACK #4: Create a Cut-Crease w/ a Spoon
Using the shape of a spoon, it's said that it would create the perfect cut-crease.

Does it work? Again, I don't know if it's my eye shape or if it's the way my lids are, but I had a lot of trouble testing this hack out. Maybe the spoon was too big? I don't know. I just wasn't getting along with it at all. I'm going to be giving this hack a big thumbs down.

HACK #5: Perfect Winged Liner Using Tape
By putting a strip of tape at the outer part of your eyes, you'll be able to create the cleanest and sharpest winged liner. This also supposedly works with eyeshadow.

Does it work? I'm guessing this is nothing new to most people as this has been used by so many people. I've used this hack a bunch of times, especially when I first started out with makeup. There's no doubt that this works. As always, be sure that you're cautious with the tape you're using and stick it on your hand first before putting it near your eyes to get rid of some of the stickiness (so it doesn't pull at your skin close to your eyes).

HACK #6: Coat Lashes In Baby Powder Before Mascara
Coating your lashes with baby powder before mascara is supposed to make your lashes look thicker than usual.

Does it work? I really thought this one was going to work, but it did not for me. I used regular baby powder in conjunction with the L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara. One side without powder & the other with. I saw absolutely no difference in the two sides. Not only did it not work, but it was also a messy process. Point blank, this hack did not work for me.

Have you tried any of these? Did they work for you?
