Makeup Look: Valentine's Day Pink

Valentine's Day is just right around the corner. It's that time of year again where all the teen boys are scrambling to find a lady to impress and hopefully get some tongue action (ew!). And it's also that time of year where the prices of roses and chocolates go up by a gazillion dollars. Between my boyfriend and I, this 'special' day isn't taken so seriously as we think everyday should be a day to cherish your loved one, but I'm not saying there's anything wrong with spoiling your woman (or man). But that's beside my point.. When I think of V-Day, the colour pink automatically comes to mind. So here's a look I came up with using pinks that would be perfect for the special occasion.

To prime my face, I pulled out an oldie..the Benefit Porefessional made it's way to the back of my collection, but finally caught some fresh air for this look. I have no idea why I put it away, but I was quickly reminded why I was so in love with it upon using it again today. Following that, I used the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation, which is probably one of my favourite Winter foundations (more on that later). To conceal/highlight areas of my face, I went with this new duo - the MUFE Ultra HD Concealer & MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, followed by my RCMA No Colour Powder to set/bake.

The Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette has been getting a lot of love lately and it's also what I used for this look. I truly forgot how amazing this palette is, but it's definitely not being put away any time soon. The first dose of pink is from the Hourglass Blush in Mood Exposure. It's not extremely pink, but it's still a pretty subtle shade of pink. Second dose is my highlight - I used the {pink}opal shade in the Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette to give me some glow. It's not too visible in the photos, but I was really living for it!

Starting with eyebrows, I actually tried a new eyebrow pencil: the Pixi Endless Brow Gel Pen*. Let me just be completely honest.. I hated it. It was just so waxy and hard to work with. I officially declared it to be a bad eyebrow day. I did, however, go in with the ABH Dip Brow Pomade in attempts to fix it which it did help a bit. With the addition of the ABH Concealer to clean up the edges, the horridness of the brow pencil was barely noticeable.

As for my eyeshadow, the whole look was created using the ABH Modern Renaissance palette. I swept Buon Fresco in the crease and slightly higher to act as a transition shade. Love Letter was also applied to the crease, but slightly lower and concentrated more so on the outer corner. To deepen the outer v, I went in with Cyprus Umber. I then used Golden Ochre to neutralize the middle/inner parts of my lids and topped it off with Vermeer to add a slight shimmer. On my lash line, I lined it with Love Letter and smoked it out with Buon Fresco. To achieve my winged liner/cat-eye, I used the Tarte Clay Pot Waterproof Liner and finished off the eyes with some falsies. Lastly, lips: I used the new Bite Beauty Lip Liner in 020* and followed by applying the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Honeycomb*.
