My Makeup Story
How old were you when you first started wearing makeup?
I'm pretty sure the first time I ever put on eyeliner was in grade 6. I literally lined my eyes with black liner and that's all. I didn't know it back then, but that's a definite no-no unless you're going for a raccoon-ish or emo look. It made my eyes look smaller than they are. But hey, I was only 10 or 11, give me a break!
How did you get into makeup?
I'm not too sure. I guess I just saw some of my mom's makeup products laying around (or I was going through her stuff) and decided to play around with it. After seeing that it made me look slightly different (in a good way), I was even more intrigued by makeup and that's when my love for it started.
What are some of your favourite brands?
I have never been disappointed by Anastasia Beverly Hills or Hourglass before. I also like NYX, Becca, and Benefit.
What does makeup mean to you?
To me, makeup is a way to enhance your natural beauty. It's also an art as you can express yourself through your makeup. Like if you're sad, wear a dark lip. If you're happy, wear bright neon eyeshadow!
If you could only wear four products on your face, what would they be?
I think I could survive with just foundation, a brow pencil, bronzer and mascara! The foundation would be the EX1 Invisiwear. My eyebrow pencil of choice is ABH Definer Brow. A bit of Hoola bronzer and crap load of Rimmel Lash Accelerator. All of which were mentioned in my Ride or Die Tag!
What is your favourite thing about makeup?
My favourite thing about makeup is learning about new makeup tips and tricks to improve my skills. I also like hearing about the newest innovations in makeup products!
What do you think of drugstore vs. high end makeup?
I say that you can't judge a product by it's price tag. I've found really good products at the drugstore and I've had some horrible experiences with higher end makeup. You don't need to spend a wad of cash to achieve flawless makeup!
What is one tip of advice you can give a beginner?
Makeup is just makeup. There's no right or wrong. Wear your makeup how you want to. And if your makeup doesn't turn out how you wanted it to...practice, practice, practice! Don't give up because each time you do it, it'll just keep getting better with each try. One day you'll look in the mirror and see your perfect eyeliner, then just laugh that you even struggled with it once upon a time.
What is the one makeup trend you've never understood?
Spidery/clumpy looking lashes! I don't like the look of it at all. Why make it look like you have less lashes than normal? I don't know.. That look really bothers me - haha.
What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube (or Blogging Community)?
The beauty blogging community is such a friendly environment where I can just express my love for makeup and share my thoughts & opinions with other beauty-lovers. I think it's really cool that people from anywhere around the world can connect because of their similar interests in makeup.
